With the development of new energy vehicles, the ev charger market is becoming more and more abundant, and there are more and more products to choose from. Buying original charging piles is no longer a must. But with so many charging piles on the market, do you know which type of pile is suitable for your car? Today I will teach you how to choose~

1. Look At The Car Configuration First

1.1 Choose A EV Charger With Appropriate Power

1.11 Charging power refers to the maximum power output of the charging pile, in kilowatts (kw). Generally speaking, the higher the charging power, the faster the charging speed, and the more expensive the charging pile will be.

1.12 The charging power adapted to different models is different. You should buy a charging pile with adapted power according to your car. The maximum charging power that new energy vehicles can accept is not determined by the power of the pile end, but is limited by the parameters of the on-board charger. If your car only supports an input power of 7kw, even if you choose an input power of 22kw, there will be no change in the charging speed.

1.2 Understand The Charging Environment In The Community

1.21 Check the rated power requirements of the charging equipment according to the technical regulations for the construction of electric vehicle charging facilities in various cities. The rated power of self-use charging equipment (including AC charging piles and non-vehicle chargers) for residents in most cities and counties in my country should not be greater than 7kw.

1.22 The voltage level used by charging piles with rated power of 3.5kw and 7kw is 220vZ, so you can apply for a 220V meter.

2.Post-selection Of Charger

2.1 Understanding Charger

AC charging piles, AC charging piles, commonly known as “slow charging”, use AC charging piles to input AC power from the power grid into the slow charging port of electric vehicles. AC charging piles only provide power output and do not directly charge the battery. You need to connect an on-board charger to convert AC power into DC power to charge the on-board battery.

DC charging piles, commonly known as “fast charging”, use DC charging piles to convert AC power from the power grid into DC power in the pile, and then transmit DC power to the fast charging port of the electric vehicle. The power directly enters the vehicle power battery to complete the charging.

2.2 Where Are AC And DC Charging Piles Generally Installed?

AC charging piles mostly use 220V single-phase civilian electricity, which has the lowest requirements for power access and is more suitable for home use. They are mostly installed in community parking lots and some public parking lots, and are used in conjunction with DC fast charging piles.

DC charging piles generally use industrial 380V three-phase electricity, so they are installed in highway service areas, high-end commercial areas, public parking lots, and collective terminal locations such as buses and logistics vehicles, mainly centralized charging stations.

2.3 Why Should Home Charging Piles Choose AC Charging Piles?

2.3.1 From a cost perspective, AC charging piles are simple to install, have low construction difficulty, and are cheaper than DC charging piles;

2.3.2 From the perspective of battery protection, frequent use of fast charging will affect the life and endurance of electric vehicle batteries;

2.3.3 From the perspective of community power load, AC power load is smaller than DC power, and most communities can be installed, with the lowest requirements for power access.

2.4 We can choose wall-mounted or column-mounted. It is recommended that new energy vehicle owners choose according to their parking space conditions. If they are close to the wall, they can choose wall-mounted, and if there is no wall, they can choose column-mounted.

2.5 Choose A Smarter Home EV Charger

2.5.1 In addition to the most basic charging methods of swiping a card and plug-and-play charging, the charging pile should also have functions such as timing to start charging, wake up the vehicle, adjust the power, stop charging, etc., and support local and mobile app remote control methods. It can receive and quickly respond to the orderly charging instructions issued by the charging operation management platform in real time to achieve orderly charging.

2.5.2 It is recommended that you can use the off-peak period to charge electric vehicles, which can save charging costs to the greatest extent!

2.6 Choose A Charging Pile With High Safety

2.6.1 In terms of safety, first look at the protection level, which must be at least IP55, and some even reach IP66 and IP67; and see if it has multiple protections such as lightning protection and leakage protection to protect our own safety.

2.6.2 Secondly, look at the protection of the charging pile for charging safety, whether there is voltage or power protection, and it is best to have intelligent temperature control, so that the temperature is too high and the power will be automatically reduced or the power will be directly cut off, which can better protect the battery and extend the service life.

2.7 Choose A Charging Pile With A Qualified Brand

If the new energy vehicle you purchase has its own brand of charging pile, you can choose a third-party charging pile on the market. It is recommended to choose a brand with independent R&D and production capabilities and a complete after-sales guarantee system. Do not blindly pursue “low prices” and ignore the hidden dangers behind them.

Yiwei charger is a third-party charging pile brand that is compatible with all models. Whether it is used at home or in public places, there are corresponding models for end users. At the same time, wholesalers and distributors are also welcome to come and purchase.
